Swansea round table were invited up to join Area Chairman Sam Hodson and Carmarthen Round Table for an evening of flat racing at Fos Las Racecourse. The day started well, as the weather was beautiful and the crowd made for a good atmosphere. We met Carmarthenshire Round Table at the gates of the course were we were introduced to the manager of Fos Las Racecourse. After a brief run down of the course and the days racing, we were fortunate enough to go into the jockeys enclosure. It was like the land of the giants in reverse. One of the jockeys was kind enough to take some time out of his race build up, to give us the insider knowledge. Hopes were raised- perhaps with our knowledgable new friends, Ian could finally get rid of his Mondeo and get the Volvo he'd always dreamed of- let the racing begin! These jockeys really do put their bodies to the sword to gain every little advantage over one another and we found a new respect for them. A respect that we quickly lost, as everyone of their tips failed to come to fruition. Although we left Fos Las Racecourse financially poorer, it had been a great day out and the boys from Carmarthen RoundTable made for an entertaining day
